Polka Fetish

Image

POLKAs are my favorites!! I like polkas in everything. So it is quite likely that I should be having a series of illustrations on Polka dots alone 🙂 Well I do have, I mean I am working on a lot of polkas of late. Will be updating all the artworks shortly. This is the first lady in a blue polka dress. I have a similar dress from ‘Forever New’, which was my inspiration behind this fashion art.

I did this illustration with watercolor on paper and edited in Photoshop.

Pencil Sketch

I have been working on a lot of Children’s Illustration of late. I must have fallen in love with the style. Or is this a secret way to revisit my own childhood through all the illustrations that I create.

So, This week’s submission for Illustration Friday is a children’s art once again.
The topic of the week being ‘SHY’, this is the first image that came to my mind. I have always noticed little kids and even adults covering their faces when they feel shy. So the illustration represents shyness quite well.

Now you don’t feel shy to drop in your comments though… 😉

Fashion Illustration-I

Image

My early school years witnessed my innocent yet colourful flirtations with hand illustrations and the subjects always had an inclination towards fashion. That was an era when my ideas on real fashion illustration were still at their infancy and it was always my school note books, probably meant for maths lessons, which took the brunt of my creative assault… I am happy to be able to make a living out of it today!!

Here are some of my recent creations in water color…

The African Chant

                                               THE AFRICAN CHANT

My infatuation with colors to create an aura of mystery led me to this creation of mine. To my eyes, a modest representation of both the elements is evident. The self-reassurance was encouraging when the art materialized in just 2days…

The Tempest

THE TEMPEST

Yes, I know…this is a very common subject to paint. There are like millions of similar looking paintings everywhere. But somehow I have always liked to paint a ship struggling to sail ahead in a stormy sea. It represents optimism to move ahead in life despite all obstacles.

And also, yes, It does draw its inspiration from William Shakespere’s ‘The Tempest’ and thus shares the name as well.

I had painted it as  a school kid in water color and later as a miniature oil painting for practice and finally the present one, as a full scale painting.

The Divine Elephant

THE DIVINE ELEPHANT

My first brush with the “BRUSH” after a long time. The challenge was elephantine in true sense when I decided to paint Ganesha, the harbinger of good luck and prosperity for the Hindus.
